Our Sonar one design took seven of the top ten places at the Sonar world championship.

To ensure an even and balanced laminate we build the sonar with continuous lengths of fibre orientated to make full use of the cloths' natural properties. Particular care is taken to ensure the minimum overlap in cloth at the ends of the boat while maximising overlaps in the keel area to obtain as much strength as possible from the fibres. The results are a stiffer hull which is lighter and more responsive to the helm. The core bonding in the deck is done with a vacuum bagging technique ensuring the lightest and stiffest of decks, resulting in weight saving and a lower centre of gravity.

Hull: Hand laid woven fibreglass with coremat coring for added strength and impact resistance. Every boat is carefully crafted to meet strict one-design rules. White and grey gelcoat finish is standard; custom hull gelcoat colors are optional.

Deck: Fabricated as a one-piece insert. Lockable cuddy with hatch boards. Extruded aluminium toe-rail bolted through the deck and hull flange for strength and longevity.

Cockpit: 11' 6" (3.5m) Self-bailing cockpit for safety, with full length seats and angled seatbacks for maximum comfort. Includes three seat storage lockers.

Keel: 900 pounds (408kg) of cast lead, deep fin design. Narrow, with advanced foil shape for superior windward performance. Faired and polished for optimum performance.

Rudder: High aspect ratio and very deep 3' 7" (1.1m) balanced design provides excellent control and manoeuverability, even under spinnaker in strong winds. Inboard location for protection and to retain the same light feel at all angles of heel. Laminated curved tiller.

Rigging: 75% fractional rig is responsive and makes handling easier. Tapered and anodised aluminium mast. Elliptical mast section is keel stepped. Swept, foil shaped spreaders, adjustable backstay and moveable mast blocking at the partners, permit fine tuning. Adjustable mainsheet traveller located amidships for easy access. Running rigging is modern high-tensile Dacron fibre.

Sails: Dacron mainsail and 100% Dacron jib. Standard Cunningham, outhaul, traveller, jib halyard tension control and jib leads provide complete sail shaping ability. Spinnaker with tapered racing spinnaker pole is also standard. Sails can be made by a manufacturer of choice as long as they strictly adhere to class rules.

Hardware: Boat is shipped Ôrace readyÕ, equipped with Harken Carbo blocks and cleats, tapered Spectra sheets and halyards ensuring maximum performance.

Optional Extras: Trailer upgrades, sail boxes, range of covers, tactics compass, outboard motors and brackets, plus many more choices. Please contact us for detailed information.
